Toastmaster Educational and Service Program
Toastmasters Pathways
A learning experience, an exciting, flexible and interactive way to develop your skills and help others in your club develop theirs.
There are eleven possible paths for learning:
- Motivation Strategies: Build motivational leadership and communication skills
- Presentation Mastery: Build public speaking skills
- Leadership Development: Build communication and leadership skills
- Innovative Planning: Build creative project management and communication skills
- Visionary Communication: Build innovative communication and leadership skills
- Strategic Relationships: Build networking, leadership and communication skills
- Dynamic Leadership: Build strategic leadership and conflict resolution skills
- Persuasive Influence: Build skills to lead in complex situations
- Effective Coaching: Build interpersonal communication, leadership and coaching skills
- Team Collaboration: Build collaborative leadership skills
- Engaging Humor (new path): Build skills as humorous and engaging speaker
These areas of learning are based on the core competencies in the program which are
- Public speaking
- Interpersonal communication
- Leading and managing
- Leading strategically
- and building confidence
Pathways Levels
Individual learning paths will have five levels, each increasing in complexity. DTM will remain as highest achievement and will require completion of two learning paths.
The levels are
- Level 1:Mastering Fundamentals
- Level 2: Learning Your Style
- Level 3: Increasing Knowledge
- Level 4: Building Skills
- Level 5: Demonstrating Expertise

Getting Started on Pathways in 5 Minutes (5 minute video)
Distinguished Toastmaster
Why stop at one path? Journey beyond being Proficient and receive the Distinguished Toastmaster award (DTM). This is the highest individual honor you can achieve in Pathways. Earn your DTM when you fulfill the following requirements:
- Completing two paths
- Serving as a club officer for 12 months and participating in a district-sponsored club officer training program.
- Serving as a club mentor or coach *
- Serving as a club sponsor or conducting Speechcraft or a Youth Leadership Program
- Serving as a district officer for one year *
- Completing DTM project
